Skin Tightening

Ageless Medical Spa offers a variety of skin tightening procedures  for a customized skincare treatment plan. Skin tightening procedures all rely on stimulating your body’s natural healing and repair process. Results and downtime are dependent on the degree of injury that is done to the skin. Skin peels can help lighten, brighten and tighten with minimal downtime, usually less than one week, and work by stimulating the lower layers of the skin and exfoliating the topmost layer of skin. The new PRX-T33 is a new therapy which is similar to a chemical peel but has only minimal flaking. Micro-needling may help improve tone and texture with little downtime and can be enhanced by PRP(platelet rich plasma). Radiofrequency devices, such as Evoke, Exilis, and Pelleve work by heating the skin and underlying tissues causing contraction of the collagen and stimulation of the body’s repair mechanisms. Downtime is very minimal for radiofrequency devices but they can take time to see results, up to 3 months. Our newest radiofrequency treatment combines radiofrequency with micro-needling for a nice tightening of the skin. Intense pulsed light technology or photo facials use light-based therapy to decrease unwanted pigmentation and redness in the skin and in a series may also improve skin laxity. A consultation is required to determine which type of treatment will best fit your needs and lifestyle.

Intense Pulse Therapy IPL

What does Intense Light Treat?

The IPL provides skin rejuvenation by treating aging and sun-damaged skin. It can treat a number of brown and red-pigmented skin problems including age and sun spots, Melasma, freckles, facial veins, and Rosacea. The IPL can also be used for acne treatments, leg veins, and skin toning.

How does it work?

Intense pulsed light treatments use a broad spectrum of high-energy light to treat the pigmented areas. The light energy is absorbed by the pigment, melanin, which causes this pigment to be released from the cells. This released pigment can then come to the surface and exfoliate off as the skin cells mature. The process may take a up to a month to be completed. The treatment for red flushing or veins may be immediate or may also take a few weeks for full effects.

Does it hurt?

For most people, there is minimal discomfort. Cold compresses or anesthetic creams may be used; however, most patients do not require them. The pulses feel like a quick warm snap and lasts for a very short time.

What will I look like after the procedure?

Many people do not look very different immediately after the procedure. You may be a little pink/red and puffy, or notice that brown areas are darker but this should subside in 1-7 days. Your skin may feel tight or as if you had been out in the sun or wind.

What are the risks?

As with any high-energy light-based therapy it is best to avoid sun exposure before and after treatments for best results. The risks of light-based therapy include a thermal injury such as a burn and skin pigment changes. You will be asked to use a daily sunblock.

Who can be treated?

People with dark or tan skin should not have intense light therapy treatments. It is safe to use on light skin. No recent use of Accutane and other photosensitizing medications. Retin A and Retinols should be discontinued 7 days prior to your treatment.

Do I need a consultation?

Yes, All clients need to have a consultation. We need to be sure you would benefit from the therapy and that there are no reasons not to perform the treatment. Often we can do your procedure the same day if you choose to but please let the staff know when booking your appointment so we will have the time set aside for you.

Micro-Needling w/hyaluronic acid or w/PRP

Automated Micro-Needling with the Eclipse MicroPen Elite is an innovation in esthetic medicine for the treatment of the appearance of fine lines and, acne scars and the improvement of the skin's texture, tone, and color. The Eclipse MicroPen Elite can improve the appearance of age spots, blackheads, and hyperpigmentation. It can improve your skin tone and texture for a softer younger-looking skin. The Eclipse MicroPen Elite can be used on all parts of the body, the face, neck, décolleté, arms, hands, legs, abdomen, and back.

How is the procedure done?

First you will have  a topical anesthetic cream such as Emla Cream applied to your face to decrease any discomfort associated with the procedure. The skin is then washed and a disinfectant is applied. A sterile cartridge containing 12 tiny micro-needles is attached to the Eclipse MicroPen Elite. You can decide to do Micro-Needling with or without PRP. (Platelet-Rich-Plasma) PRP is your own blood spun in a Centrifuge to collect the platelet rich portion  which will be used on your face with the Micro-Needling to produce more collagen. You may notice a tingling or tight feeling when using your Platelet-Rich Plasma. If you choose not to use your own plasma, we will use Hyaluronic Acid. The Micro- needle pen will be gently pressed against the skin while simultaneously gliding in one direction until the entire treatment area has been treated. It feels similar to light sandpaper being moved across your skin. Some areas are more sensitive than others, but the speed of the reciprocating tip makes the treatment more comfortable. The treatment is then repeated for another 1-2 passes across the skin. Micro-needling usually takes 15-30 minutes once initiated, but factor in prep time for HA or PRP, so we will block an hour. for your procedure.

What to expect afterward:

Patients notice an immediate "glow" to their skin. Visible changes to the skin develop over the course of several weeks and continue up to 6 months. You will leave with a post procedure skin care kit to use post-treatment. Multiple treatments may be required but we will let you know the best course of treatment base on your skin concerns. They are usually done at monthly intervals.

Side Effects:

You will likely experience mild  swelling and redness of the treated area, which may last 12-24 hours. In most cases the redness is about 50% improved within an hour. Ice or cold compresses may help if swelling occurs. In rare cases, skin infections may happen but should be easily treated with an antibiotic. You will be given a prescription for an anti-viral if you have a history of cold sores.
